Project Name: Beacon Elkhart General Hospital
Goal: To Enhace the Patient Experience Through Art and Design
Result/Solution: Elkhart General Hospital has been a community cornerstone since 1913. Its recent interior renovation brings bright, welcoming energy to the first-floor corridors through a collaboration between Beacon Health System, Creative Design Solutions, and Olee Creative. Dated tan walls and muted landscapes have been replaced with a mix of historical black-and-white images and vibrant local artwork that celebrates Elkhart County’s people, places, and natural beauty. Olee Creative partnered with the South Bend Regional Chamber, the Elkhart County Convention and Visitors Bureau, photographer Gary Riggs, Beacon’s Dr. Langford, and select Getty images to source the collection. The colorful pieces were printed on 3/8" acrylic panels with sleek metal standoffs, adding light and dimension to the halls. Historical photos were printed on brushed aluminum dibond to complement their aged aesthetic and honor the hospital’s legacy. Outside the Emergency Department, a “Healing Nature” installation features calming imagery of water, trees, and sunlight across five staggered panels. This dynamic display reflects research showing that art and nature imagery can reduce anxiety and support healing. New colorful wayfinding signage further brightens the corridors while improving navigation. Olee Creative is proud to help Elkhart General infuse its spaces with color, community, and calm, transforming everyday corridors into meaningful journeys of reflection and renewal.
