In this edition of Design Stories, we will review a corporate office project in which OleeVue films were used to add privacy, decoration and reinforce corporate branding.

The Challenge

Tire Rack, an international reseller of automotive tires, parts and accessories, headquartered in Indiana, has experienced strong growth leading to the development of a new customer service facility.  During construction, Tire Rack contacted Olee Creative for assistance with some office and conference areas that would benefit from privacy and decorative films.

Service center conference rooms and leadership offices are surrounded by glass on the interior of the building and offered little privacy. With over 100 phone staff, the leadership team also wanted to create visual interest and reinforce the corporate brand with creative design.

The Process

Members of the Olee Creative design team visited Tire Rack headquarters to understand the facility layout, construction materials and scale of operations.  While visiting, the Olee team also gained an understanding of the Tire Rack business and brand along with design elements used in other buildings on the campus. Tire Rack built its business selling tires and wheels and their website captures the company passion this way:  "We've been in love with tires for as long as we can remember." Olee Creative wanted to recognize and reinforce the company passion for tires by finding a way to customize a film design that captured a singular yet unique aspect of tires:  tread design. Every tire tread pattern is designed for an intended use.  Off-road tires have different treads and characteristics than racing tires, or tires for commuting on highways.  When tires leave behind tracks, the tread patterns can themselves become a work of art or tell a story. With that in mind, the Olee design team developed custom designs that incorporated actual tire tread patterns arranged to convey a sense of motion and interest. Frosted film would add privacy to a portion of the windows on offices, and then transition into decorative film to continue the pattern and create visual interest.

Custom privacy and decorative film patterns were created for each individual size glass pane.

The tire tread design was also used to add a decorative accent to glass dividers between workstations for service center staff.  The patterns reinforced company branding and created positive distraction. High quality images of cars, tires and wheels were transferred onto decorative window film to create privacy for the conference rooms, add color and graphic art elements to the floor plan. In addition to design and production, the Olee Creative team coordinated installation of the window films.

The Result

The Tire Rack team was thrilled with the finished product.   The vehicle image graphics on the conference rooms provided the right degree of privacy while also creating a vibrant boost of color to the surrounding areas.  Moreover, the selection of graphics offered beautiful, visual brand reinforcement.

Before the films, the leadership team had described their experience working in the offices as feeling like they were in a 'fish bowl'.   The OleeVue films provided the right balance between privacy and visibility to the floor operations, enhancing the overall work environment.

Adding the tire tread to the workstation dividers created a bit of whimsy while better defining the individual workspace.  For this project, the Olee Creative team worked directly with the Tire Rack management and facilities teams to develop the project from concept to finished product.
