Shaping Up a Fitness Center

In this edition of Design Stories, we explore a recent fitness center project. The design firm approached Olee Creative for help in translating their design into reality using specialty wall graphics. Read on to learn about the project challenges and see the final

The Challenge

Before:

Panzica Building Corporation was hired by Knowllwood Country Club to help transform their fitness center. The goal was to improve visual aesthetics while also improving branding for the club. In the center, there was one wall that was highly visible and deserved a special touch. Panzica's team crafted a design and contacted Olee Creative for help in turning the design into reality.

The Process

There were 3 key design elements that needed to be met on this project:
1. Selecting the appropriate wall covering material and adhesive
2. Color matching the desired purple
3. Managing the large scale of the graphic

Panzica specified a low VOC paint for the wall.
The low VOC content of the paint can result in poor wall covering adhesion when using standard products. The Olee team knew just how to solve this and recommended a self-adhering graphic with high-tack adhesive to produce the best result.

Color matching is always a critical element in the production of custom graphics and for this project Panzica specified a specific purple that was being used in other design elements in the facility. Working closely with Panzica, the Olee team was able to replicate the perfect purple in the printed graphic.

The large size of the graphic required printing on more than one sheet of film. This requires exacting printing, cutting and expert installation to achieve a seamless impression once the image is spliced together at the project site.

Olee Creative was able to help us pick the right wall-mural product, color match paint swatches, and adjust image files for use. Their installation team coordinated with our construction department to coordinate with our construction schedule and other trades, allowing us to complete work on schedule."
